Bournemouth Airport has a 2-hour check-in standard for short-haul European flights — generous compared to Heathrow’s 3-hour international recommendation. The 30-minute drive from the New Forest centre to the airport means timing is straightforward. Luggage stays in the cab throughout the New Forest section. If your flight is from Heathrow rather than Bournemouth, this isn’t the right page. The New Forest is in the wrong direction for a Heathrow run and the day adds 90 minutes unnecessarily.

  Yes — Beaulieu adds roughly 90 minutes if you want the museum, the abbey ruins and Palace House. It still leaves plenty of margin for a Bournemouth flight from 4pm onwards. For a 3pm flight, stick to the scenic drive without Beaulieu.
• Is the route wheelchair accessible?
  The drive itself is fully accessible — wheelchair-accessible vehicle (FlexiCab). The village stops vary; Lyndhurst centre is flat and easy, Brockenhurst is mostly flat, the Beaulieu site is largely accessible with one or two paths that have alternatives. Burley is hillier; Dave can route around the steeper bits.
• What if our flight is from Heathrow instead?
  The New Forest is south-west of Southampton; Heathrow is north-east. The detour adds roughly 90 minutes versus a direct Heathrow run with a single stop. If your flight is from Heathrow, Stonehenge or Windsor are better cruise-day stops — both on the natural route towards the airport.
